how many Amps does the 383L+ and EFWII use?
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:37:20 PM »
I'm want to see if I can use the Software Bisque external power cable set on my MX mount to power an ATIK EFWII and a ATIK 383L+

The cable set has a 3 amp max and a 5 amp max power connector. Can anyone tell me what the max Amperage used by each piece of hardware is?

thanks,
Robert

I built my own. The connectors to mate with the MX  to route power via the mount are available at Farnell

http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/displayProduct.jsp?sku=1437589&CMP=KNC-GUK-FUK-GEN-SKU-OTH&mckv=sMq0fTDy2|pcrid|13358643189|kword|kppx-4p|match|p|plid|

a bit fiddly to assemble but a lot cheaper than using Bisque. I used 3 amp rated cable to assemble mine and split the upper section to a number of power plugs so I can run to save plugging and unplugging things. Works a treat.

Chris thanks for the input...I already have a "spare" cable set form Bisque so was just trying to verify if it would support the hardware. Since my original post I found that the connectors were wired for tip negative so I had to switch the leads and have tested. Cables work well with camera and filterwheel.

I measured the 383L+ sucking a peak of 1.8Amps while trying to achieve -10 degrees.
