314EC and 383LC+/ color converting, stacking and processing
« on: October 26, 2012, 11:57:31 am »
Hi to all, this is my first post and I start with a question: which one of the softwares you found is the best one for converting the images in to color for the cameras mentioned above on the subject?

I tried artemis RGB and to be honest I did not had good results.
Maxim dl stacking does very well but then after streching and DDP filtering again results are not very good.
DSS tried as well but things are not getting much better either.

ImagesPlus never tried before. Would be great if somebody who tried can tell few words about.

Maybe is just me doing things wrong.

Attached is one of my pictures of M27 done and processed year ago.
Still plenty of room for improvement.

Sorry for bad English.

gljiva,

I have been using ImagesPlus for many years starting with DSLR and now Atik 383 OSC.  I use Capture to take images and then use ImagesPlus to do the processing.  Mike Insold, the author of ImagesPlus, has automated the processing and responds quickly to any questions or problems.  There is a Yahoo user group that I have used many times for help.

+1 for images plus.

Used it for raw DSLR images , Atik 16HR mono and Atik 460EX mono.

Works well and lots of options at the final combination - median , sigma clipped median , average etc.

Always worked perfectly.

I own Nebulosity and have used the Pixinsight trial (and am going to buy it soon) and have to say they are a great combination. Nebulosity does a great job with capture and pre-processing, never had a problem. For post-processing, the power of Pixinsight is great, though there is a learning curve.
